Fulbright DIKTI Senior Research Special Program, American Indonesian Exchange Foundation, USA


Fulbright-DIKTI Senior Research Special 10 Week University of Washington PAR-C Type Recharging Program
Requirements: applicants must serve as faculty members at any private or state higher education institutions, and have not previously received any Fulbright scholarships. Please note that applicants must be nominated by their institution.
Participating Universities in the U.S.
University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Washington State University,Highline Community College, and Cascadia Community College.
Features of this special program include:
  • Pairing each scholar with a UW Faculty Mentor
  • Providing opportunities for course observation, laboratory visits, experience with new research equipment and technology, introduction to colleagues, etc.
  • Providing a weekly seminar series inviting speakers from academic and administrative units and offer scholars’ seminar series
  • Assisting scholars in making connections with faculty and researchers in Seattle
  • Providing opportunities to visit relevant organizations and institutions in the greater Seattle area (such as Boeing, Microsoft, Fred Hutch Cancer Center)
  • Partnering with Seattle Surabaya Sister City Association (SSSCA)
Eligibility:
  • Applicants must be Indonesian faculty members who work in one of the following fields: agriculture,engineering, environmental studies, and higher education administration.
  • Applicants should have a doctoral degree (S3) or equivalent professional qualifications.
  • TOEFL score is not required
  • Applicants should be able to demonstrate sufficient English language proficiency to conduct seminars and research in the U.S.
  • Applicants must be nominated by their university Rectors with the accompanying standard DIKTI nomination form and the Fulbright application form (DIKTI form could be downloaded from the DIKTI website, while the Fulbright form from www.aminef.or.id.)

European Business School London International Scholarship, UK


We are delighted to invite you to participate in the annual EBS London International ScholarshipCompetition. Each year we offer:
  • One full scholarship for either the BA (Hons) International Business or BA (Hons) International Events Management degree course, covering the tuition fees for the full 3.5 years of the programme, worth approximately £50,000
  • Two half scholarships for either degree course, covering half of the tuition fees for the 3.5 year programme, worth approximately £25,000 each
Who Can Participate?
The competition is open to all applicants who hold a conditional or unconditional offer to study on the BA (Hons) International Business or BA (Hons) International Events Management degree course, commencing in September 2013 or February 2014.
Please note that to participate in the competition, you must be holding an offer by the closing date of 31 May, 2013.
The competition is not open to transfer students, or students who join the EBS London programmes with advanced standing.
How Can I Apply for the Scholarship?
  1. Choose one of the six scholarship questions. Choose the question which most interests you, and which you would most like to research – we are looking for original thoughts and ideas.
  2. Start your research. Think about employing a variety of research methods to ensure that your essay is fresh, original and thought-provoking. We expect you to conduct surveys, interviews, to research books, journals, magazines, newspapers. It is important to appropriately reference all sources you use during your research.
  3. Write and submit your essay to us by the competition deadline, 31 May 2013, at 17:00 GMT. The essay should not exceed eight double-spaced pages in length.
What Are the Judges Looking for?
We are looking for a creative and research-based approach to your work. Any original research you do, such as contacting firms or the business community in general, will be rewarded in the assessment process.
You should reference your work appropriately and provide a full bibliography, listing the relevant sources. Your entry will be used to determine the short-list of candidates, who proceed to the second state of the competition – the presentations.
The presentations will allow us to assess your interpersonal skills and your ability to present yourself. In addition you will have the opportunity to tell us more about your research and findings.
How Do We Decide the Winners?
After the scholarship deadline, the Judges will choose the six best entries. The short-listed candidates will be invited to attend the EBS London International Scholarship Assessment Day on our campus in central London. This will be held in early July 2012. On the day you will:
  • Make a presentation on your research and essay
  • Answer questions on your presentation and essay
The three awards will be based upon the candidates’ written essays and oral presentations. The winners will be announced shortly thereafter.

Foreign Press Association Scholarship Fund, USA


The Foreign Press Association has established a scholarship program aimed at encouraging foreign students enrolled in graduate programs in this country to pursue a career reporting on internationalaffairs.
This year a minimum of three scholarships will be awarded, one for $10,000, one for $7,500 and the other for $5,000. The money is to be used for further study in print, broadcast or photojournalism.
Presentation of the awards will be made at the Annual Dinner of the FPA on May 9, 2013.
The deadline for submission of material is December 9, 2012.
Applicants must:
  1. Submit a one-page statement indication how a scholarship will affect your future plans. Indicate if financial aid is needed. List all scholarships and fellowships you have received towards you studies in the United States.
  2. Submit an Op-Ed piece (maximum 750 words).
    Prompt:The debt crisis in the European Union has been one of the most important stories of the past year and news organizations have devoted major resources to the daily reporting of developments. For the purpose of this essay, assume that you are a journalist working for a news organization that is determined to do an in-depth article about some aspect of the crisis that has not been adequately covered. Your editor has offered to assign you to spend several weeks on story with ample recources to travel wherever the story leads you.
    Write a proposal that explains the story you want to cover. Your proposal should offer a fresh angle and delve into the area for the benefit of the public’s understanding of the debt crisis and its fallout. Your proposal must have a clear angle that defines your story, and important and interesting questions that need answers. Discuss why your story needs to be told.
  3. Present proof of enrollment in a Graduate program of Journalism.
  4. Submit two letters of reference:
    1. From a current professor
    2. From an editor you have worked for
  5. Submit only two samples of published or broadcast work. If work is in a foreign language, please send it with an English translation.
  6. Submit a curriculum vitae. Outline your previous experience in journalism and academic background.
  7. Only applicants with F-1 and J-1 Visas are eligible for consideration. Provide copy of documentation.

Shari’ah Scholarship Award, International Shari’ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance, Malaysia


The International Shari’ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA) 

invites qualified students with excellent academic achievements and active in co-curricular activities to apply for the Shari’ah Scholarship Award (SA) to pursue their higher education at either local or overseas universities. The Shari’ah Scholarship Award is part of the Fund for Shari’ah Scholars in Islamic Finance, which was established to enhance knowledge, research, talents, and intellectual discourse in the field of Shari’ah. The Fund represents Bank Negara Malaysia‘s commitment to strengthen the development of the Islamic financial industry.
FIELD OF STUDY
  1. Postgraduate (Master or Doctorate) in Shariah or Islamic finance studies at recognized institutions of higher learning;
  2. Undergraduate studies at recognized institutions of higher learning in the field of Shari’ah with adouble degree or a minor in one of the following disciplines:
    • Islamic banking;
    • Conventional banking;
    • Accounting;
    • Law;
    • Economics;
    • Finance;
    • Management; or
    • other related fields appropriate to the development of the Islamic financial industry.
  3. CIFP, only for those with Shariah background.
ELIGIBILITY
  1. The scholarship is open to citizens of all countries.
  2. Applicants have to secured admission at a recognized institution of higher learning. Applicants are required to pursue either a Bachelor, CIFP , Master or Doctorate programme, as defined above, in a fulltime programme.
  3. For a postgraduate application, applicants are required to have a CGPA of at least 3.5 or its equivalent.
  4. For an undergraduate application, applicants are required to have a CGPA of at least 3.3 or its equivalent (for the first semester result).
  5. Current students enrolled in the programmes specified above may also apply for the scholarship.
  6. Applicants should not be in receipt of any other scholarship award.
APPLICATION 
An application for a scholarship must be submitted with the following documents, which must be in English:
  1. Application form. Please download at the aplication form;
  2. Photocopy of personal identification document (passport/identity card);
  3. Offer Letter from the institution of higher learning;
  4. Certified copies of academic certificates and transcripts;
  5. An essay of not more than 100 words on ‘why the applicant should be awarded the scholarship and how he/she plans to contribute to the Islamic financial services industry’;
  6. Two (2) letters of recommendation (only for a postgraduate scholarship application). Please use provided template.
  7. Thesis proposal (only for Master and PhD application by research or coursework & research); and
  8. Other relevant materials to support the application.
Only shortlisted applicants will be notify for interview session.

Beasiswa S-2 Humaniora di Oxford!


Universitas Oxford di Inggris menawarkan Mica and Ahmet Ertegun Graduate Scholarship Programme di bidang humaniora untuk tahun ajaran 2013-14. Progam beasiswa ini ditujukan untuk menumbuhkan dialog lintas disiplin akademik, lintas budaya, dan lintas generasi. Lulusan program beasiswa ini diharapkan siap menjadi pemimpin yang tidak hanya menguasai bidang yang dipilih, tetapi juga membentuk seorang pemimpin yang memiliki pemikiran, pandangan global, dan aksi positif untuk kemajuan umat manusia.

  • Merit Scholarship Application Form
As part of the application process you are required to write a short statement in support of your application, which should address the following points:
  • Why you are applying for the scholarship,
  • How you will benefit from the opportunities that being given the award will provide, and
  • How you would contribute to the University community during your studies here.
You may refer to activities, achievements and personal qualities which are particularly relevant to your application.
You should also include:
  • A scanned transcript of your highest academic qualification,
  • Evidence of English language competence e.g. a scanned copy of your IELTS certificate (where appropriate), and
  • A scanned copy of your University offer letter (or email if you have not received your letter).
Applications must be complete. Applications which are incomplete, missing required data or are illegible will be considered invalid. You may only apply for an award once. Multiple applications will not be considered.
The School’s award panel will meet to consider eligible scholarship applications received by the respective due dates.
The School will assess all applications against the following criteria:
  • Previous academic record and your suitability for postgraduate study in the School, i.e.
    • Class of degree / CGPA / final score of first degree or previous masters-level study,
    • Relevance of your first degree to the course you are applying for,
    • Any prizes or awards given to you in your first degree.
  • Relevant industrial or professional experience,
  • Evidence of workplace experience that is relevant to the course you are applying for, and
  • Personal achievements which indicate your ability and commitment to: complete the intended course; contribute to the course, school and wider university community during your studies and the professional community when you complete the course.
In the event that two applications are scored identically and only one award is available, the panel will award the scholarship to the first application received, using the date of receipt in the University as the relevant date.
Please note: All scholarship applicant should intend to complete to MSc stage. Any successful scholarship applicant that chooses to exit their course early will be expected to reimburse all or part of their award at the discretion of the School.
Notification and acceptance
  • Successful applicants will be informed in the first instance by email
  • Applicants will be required to respond by email to accept the offer. A formal scholarship offer letter will then be issued and dispatched by email. Failure to accept the offer will lead to the scholarship offer being withdrawn and offered to an alternative applicant.
Terms and conditions
  • All scholarships are awarded in the form of a discount on fees paid.
  • A scholarship will be withdrawn if:
    • You fail to accept the offer within the time permitted.
    • Your scholarship or University application is found to contain incomplete or inaccurate information.
    • You are found to have committed academic misconduct once enrolled at the University
    • You are found to have committed non-academic misconduct once enrolled at the University
    • You fail to pass module assignments or end of module exams at the first attempt once enrolled on your course
    • You defer or suspend your studies, withdraw from the University or are suspended or withdrawn from the University
    • You fail to make payment for fees due to the University within 23 days of the due date
    • In the event that a scholarship is withdrawn, you will need to pay the full fees due for your course
Appeals Process
All decisions on scholarship applications will be made by the School’s Scholarship Panel. All decisions are final and we cannot enter into correspondence with unsuccessful applicants. There are no grounds for appeal against an unsuccessful application with the following exception:
  • Where there is evidence of alleged improper conduct or irregular procedure during the scholarship awards process.
If you wish to appeal on the above ground, you should write in the first instance to the Head of School, outlining your evidence of alleged improper conduct or irregular procedure during the awards process. The Head of School will respond to you within 20 working days.

Scholarship Value
There are two possible UTS scholarship amounts for one year study programmes and two for two year programmes. The student can only chose and apply for one of these. The amounts stated are given per year of study.
The scholarships from which the student will chose by application are:
  1. 22.500 € two year master program
  2. 20.000 € one year master program
  3. 12.500 € two year master program
  4. 10.000 € one year master program
exception on these amounts are made for the two year study programme Philosophy of Science, Technology and Society, a non-technical study, for which the following scholarship amounts to be chosen from: large scholarship = 20.000 € small = 10.000 €
Requirements for application
To qualify for a UTS, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:
  • You have been admitted/provisionally accepted to one of the above mentioned UT graduate programmes before 15 December (round 1) or 15 March (round 2).
  • You have graduated with excellent results (overall CGPA) from your (under-)graduate programme.
  • You comply with the conditions for obtaining an entry visa for long stay in the Netherlands.
  • You comply with the general English language test norm Academic IELTS 6.5 (or TOEFL iBT of 90) and an additional 6.0 (TOEFL iBT 20) on the subscore of speaking skills.
  • You are a national from a non-EU/EEA country .
  • You are not eligible for a Dutch study grant.
  • You have completed a pre-master at the University of Twente (if applicable).
  • If you are starting a ‘pre-master’ programme you may already apply for a UTS. However, you must complete your pre-master programme with a CGPA of 7,5 out of 10 to be eligible for a UTS and comply with above mentioned requirements.

  5. In “letter of request”, you need to fill out from “Date” to “Student ID Number” on the first half of the page.

2013 Spring Admission Guide for International Students
Department of Energy Science at SKKU Graduate School
The Department of Energy Science (DOES) is pleased to invite international students who have passion to conduct cutting edge research and make breakthroughs in energy sciences, proposing solid solutions for the global energy crisis.
Applicable Programs
  • Ph.D. Program
  • Combined Master’s-Doctorate Program
Scholarship
  • Full tuition fee (approx. USD 6,000 every semester)
  • Monthly subsidy of USD 600 on average (might vary from each advisor)
  • Student Award for outstanding students
* Applicants need not apply for the scholarship separately, as the accepted students will automatically be granted with them on their entrance.

  • Application Submission Deadline: Oct. 9-22 (Application Documents should arrive by the date.)
  • Announcement of Successful Candidates: Nov. 21(Interior announcement will be made earlier.)

Eligibility
  • Applicants for Combined Master’s-Doctorate Program should have earned a degree that is equivalent to a Korean bachelor’s degree or should be supposed to obtain a bachelor’s degree by Feb 2013
  • Applicants for Ph.D. Program should have earned a degree that is equivalent to the Korean master’s degree or should be supposed to obtain a Master’s degree by Feb 2013
Application Procedure
  • Email the filled application forms to hyunokryu@skku.edu first.
  • Submit the required documents by Oct 22, and send the application fee. If you cannot post-send the documents by the date, you should tell me in advance.
  • The list of required documents and the process of sending the fee is written below.
Required Documents
All the applicants are required to submit the following list of documents:
a. Application Form Papers:
  1. Download the forms here
  2. Fill out the forms with required information: application form, self-introduction, study plan, letter of consent, and letter of request.
  3. Preferred length for the two essays, “self-introduction” and “study plan”, is 3-4 pages.
  4. In the form “letter of consent”, you should fill out all the blanks.
  5. In “letter of request”, you need to fill out from “Date” to “Student ID Number” on the first half of the page.
  6. Print out the completed forms and attach a photo on the first page of the forms.
b. Updated CV
c. Notarized Photocopies of Degree Certificates:
  1. Bachelor’s degree certificate for applicants of the Combined Master’s-Doctorate Program
  2. Both bachelor’s and master’s for applicants of the Ph.D. Program
* If you haven’t been issued a degree certificate yet, whilst expecting one by August 2012, a provisional degree certificate or an authorized letter to prove the degree certificate issuance is required.
**The submission of a graduation/degree certificate and the transcript of the last semester need to be completed by August 24, 2012. The admission can be canceled if the student fails to submit the certificate by the deadline without justifiable reasons.
d. Transcripts:
  1. Those of your undergraduate program for applicants of Combined Master’s-Doctorate Program
  2. Both undergraduate and graduate programs for applicants of Ph.D. Program
e. Official English Score
English scores as of the followings or higher:

Application Fee
USD 80 (or 80,000 Korean won)
Send the fee to “Sungkyunkwan University” by money order.
Or one can pay in cash with the help of your family / friend / acquaintance staying in Korea.
The application fee will not be returned regardless of your application results.
Additional Requirements
The following documents are required for the relevant applicants :
a. Photocopy of Your Korean Alien Registration Card
If you are currently residing in Korea, you should submit the above document.
b. Certificate Letter of Governmental Scholarship
Above is required if you are a beneficiary of Korean governmental scholarship or Korean National Institute for International Education
c. If you are planning to bring a family member with you, you should also submit the official documents that can prove the relationship between you and the person as well as his/her passport.
d. Those who obtained their degree(s) in China need to submit one of the following two or else the admission can be cancelled:

Notes and Instructions on Application Requirements
  1. All the documents need to be original or else the copies should be proved same as original by the head of the certification issuance authority.
  2. If the documents are not issued/written in either Korean or English, the translation that is approved by a notary public should be also attached.
  3. Submitted documents will not be returned regardless of your application results.
